Seneca State Forest

Mealmaster wood-burning stoveCooking on a wood-burning stove can be a nostalgic experience or a new challenge. So try your hand at some old-fashioned type of meal preparation on a Mealmaster , while saving money during our "Meal Master Special" in August AND September.

Visitors making reservations for two consecutive nights, Sunday through Thursday, have the option of staying a third night for free. Rates range from $53 to $102 per night, depending upon the cabin size that suits your needs.

How much fun can you expect from this experience?  Maybe a lifetime of memories, and here's why:

The pioneer log cabins here at Seneca were built in the 1930s - they have no electricity. The cabins are wonderful!  Lighting and the refrigerator are powered by natural gas. That's right we have gas. Each cabin has its own outdoor privy. There are, however, showers available and a coin operated laundry at the forest office. The true test of the Seneca experience is pumping water and cooking on a Mealmaster wood-burning stove. Our cabins are completely furnished and supplied with firewood, pots, pans, dinnerware, bed linens, blankets, towels and other amenities needed for a relaxing stay in a quiet forest setting during a less busy time of year.
